Harderwijk is a 21.7 km Veluwe loop made up largely of singletrack through old, now-forested drift dunes. It blends easy access with sandy, rooty sections that keep you working.
Roughly two thirds singletrack runs over sandy terrain with roots, natural obstacles and challenging kombochten across 192 m of gain. It crosses Beekhuizerzand and Natuurmonumenten forest, turning soft and sandy after dry spells.
Around two thirds of the route is singletrack, with roots and technical switchbacks.
Old stuifduinen mean sandy footing that softens after dry weather.
The loop crosses Beekhuizerzand and managed Natuurmonumenten woodland and heath.
Drop tyre pressure a little when the sand softens, so the tyres float over the loose drift-dune sections.
