Hattem is a 23.2 km Veluwe loop running mostly on forest roads and established paths through coniferous woodland and heath. It rides like an accessible gravel-style tour rather than a technical trail.
The route splits into a more technical 10.5 km northern loop with the Trijselenberg climb and descent and a gentler southern part of beech lanes and heath. It crosses the Zwolse forest, Wezepsche Heide and Landgoed Petrea, with little singletrack or sand.
Well-marked forest roads and established paths carry most of the 23.2 km loop.
The northern loop adds the Trijselenberg climb and descent for some bite.
Coniferous forest, beech lanes and heath define the typical Veluwe scenery.
Firmer pressures roll efficiently on the forest roads and packed paths that make up most of this loop.
