Vijlen is one of the toughest routes in South Limburg's Heuvelland, built on relentless climbing and fast, technical descents. It runs mostly forest roads and farm tracks with rocky, eroded descent sections.
The 25.8 km route climbs and descends through rolling hill country with technical descents of loose stones and eroded gullies where frequent braking is needed. With 661 m of climbing through woodland and pasture, it is rocky enough to rule out gravel bikes and turns treacherous when wet.
661 m of consecutive climbs, among the toughest in the country.

Loose stones and eroded gullies favour lower pressure than a typical green route for grip on the rocky descents.
