Vlagtwedde is a 34 km tour through the Westerwolde network in eastern Groningen, over forest paths, sand heaps and open farmland. The Ruiten Aa valley is crossed repeatedly.
It alternates between technical, challenging woodland and straight, fast sections, with extensive hardpack and paved stretches and limited singletrack. The old forests of Smeerling feature on a flat profile.
Old woods at Smeerling and a varied Westerwolde landscape line the route.
Extensive hardpack and paved stretches mean it leans gravel-friendly.
Technical woodland sections punctuate the straight, fast riding.
Long, fast and mostly hardpack; firmer pressures keep it efficient over the distance, with enough fork left for the technical woodland pockets.
