Your garage

Updated

The garage answers one question precisely: what is this bike, physically, right now? Everything else on Dialed builds on that answer. Setups know which hardware they are tuning, service records know which part was serviced, and community comparisons know whether two bikes are even comparable.

Bike type drives the build

When you add a bike you pick its frame type: one of nine rear-suspension designs, or hardtail. That choice decides which component slots exist. A hardtail simply has no shock slot, so no screen will ever ask you for shock values on it. Front and rear wheels are separate slots too, so a mullet build with a 29 up front and a 27.5 in the back is a first-class citizen.

Components, edit versus replace

Every slot holds the mounted part: brand, model, size, and optionally a serial number. Two different actions keep the history honest:

  • Edit fixes a typo or detail on the part that is mounted. The record stays the same part.
  • Replace retires the current part and mounts a new one. The old part keeps its history (services, time mounted); the new one starts fresh.

If you sell a bike, you can hand it over to the new owner. The build and its service history travel with the bike; your setups stay yours.

Service records

Log what was serviced and when: a fork lowers service, a shock full service, brake bleeds, whatever the visit covered. Multiple jobs fit in one visit, and reminders tell you when the next one is due based on what was done. A bike that is linked to a shop can have the shop log the work; you both see the same history.

Next: creating setups, where the garage meets the trail.
